Baggage and Liquids
When flying on scheduled flights such as British Airways the baggage allowance is 23kgs. If KTS/Insynq have booked flights on your behalf on ‘no frills’ airlines such as EasyJet or Jet 2, we will book and pre-pay for one piece of hold luggage weighing up to 20kgs.
Please ensure all luggage is clearly named with luggage labels provided showing your name, hotel name and address. Hand luggage is restricted to one piece only (including laptops and handbags) and should be no larger than 55cmx40cmx20cm and weigh no more than 10kgs.
Travelling with liquids: Please pack any liquids that you don’t need while on board in your hold baggage. If you need to travel with liquids please be aware of the following restrictions which apply to all liquids in hand luggage. All liquids must be in individual containers not greater than 100ml. They must be placed in one transparent bag, no larger than 8×8 inches (20cmx20cm) in size, and fit comfortably inside the bag so that it can be closed. One bag per person is allowed and must be clear and re-sealable. These bags must be put through the x-ray machines separately. Any sharp items must be packed in hold luggage.
Portuguese banks are usually open from 8:30am – 3pm Mondays to Friday (some have extended hours on Fridays to 4pm), with some open on Saturdays.

WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU HAVE TRAVEL INSURANCE COVER.
Insurance is required primarily for medical coverage but also for loss or damage to luggage, theft or loss of property. Travel insurance is easily obtainable either online or from your local Post Office.
Please note that, in general, travel insurance only covers personal belongings up to the amount of £200. Any property you are taking on the trip of a higher value such as cameras, video cameras, laptops etc. should be covered separately. You may find these are covered on your home insurance policy. Please note mobile phones are not covered under most travel insurance policies.
While the area directly around the hotel is mainly residential, the Marina at Vilamoura has a fabulous nightlife that will appeal to all tastes. There are restaurants, bars and cafés as well as nightclubs and a casino, all located within walking distance from each other.
Passport and Visas
Visas are not required for UK and European passport holders. Passports should be valid for three months after your intended length of stay. Please check with Russell Gilbey if you do not hold a UK or EU passport as you may require a visa.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: At the time of print, there is still a degree of uncertainty regarding the Brexit situation. If there are any major changes to European travel as a result of the UK’s departure from the European Union, an update will be provided to all delegates regarding any new passport and/or visa requirements for those travelling within Europe.
As in all destinations, Vilamoura does have a small crime element albeit mainly petty pick-pocketing. Please ensure that you keep handbags, wallets and cameras etc. secure when you are out and about. It is advisable to take extra care at night by not being out on your own and it is advisable to take the hotel’s complimentary shuttle service to and from the hotel.
Typical shop opening hours in the Algarve are from 9am – 1pm and 3pm – 7pm Monday to Friday and until 1pm on Saturdays. During peak summer season most of them will stay open all day on Saturdays and will be open until 9pm or 10pm in the main resorts.
Special Dietary Requirements
If you have any special meal requirements, such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten free etc. and have not already advised Russell Gilbey of this please do so before your departure, as arrangements are more difficult to arrange once in Vilamoura.
When calling the UK from Portugal the following dialling code is required 0044 + UK STD code (minus 0).
Vilamoura is on the same time as the UK.
